We, the members of the Christian Party of North Carolina, in order to set forth the principles upon which this party is founded, and to articulate those issues about which this party is now duly concerned, and in order to direct the officers and members of this party regarding the actions to be taken related to those issues hereby ordain this platform.
We acknowledge the Almighty God of the Bible as Creator, Ruler of infinity, Supreme Judge and Lawgiver to man. We fully submit to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and declare His teachings, values and principles based on God’s Holy Word, to govern our speech, actions and motivations through the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Furthermore, we hereby look to Him for wisdom, guidance, boldness, compassion, humility, and endurance as we seek to restore and preserve our communities, our state, and our nation. We acknowledge the fallen condition of the human race and look to Jesus Christ as our only hope for personal and cultural salvation.
We also acknowledge the legacy of our Founding Fathers who believed that “a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles” is essential to securing liberty and good government. We further acknowledge our heritage as a Christian nation as confirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court when it ruled in 1892 “…that our laws and our institutions must be based upon and embody the teachings of the Redeemer of Mankind, (Almighty God)…”
It is confirmed by human experience and evidenced by history that “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” (Psalms 33:12)
“If to please the people, we offer what we ourselves disapprove, how can we afterward defend our work? Let us raise a standard to which the wise and the honest can repair; the event is in the hand of God!” ~George Washington~
To this end, the Christian Party of North Carolina invites those who are in agreement with these values and principles to unite in these common goals and activities. Being a Christian party of clear and distinct values and principles requires us to demand strict adherence to our party platform by those who would be Party candidates. Members who would be candidates are expected to build upon and strictly adhere to these well-established principles enumerated in this party platform.
Proper Role of Government:
We believe that the proper role of government is to defend the American citizens and not be the aggressor. It is to protect, not to provide; for economic support. The proper function of government is to protect the lives, liberty, and property of its citizens -- nothing more.
“That government is best which governs least.” ~Thomas Paine~
We (as G. Edward Griffin) believe that desirable social and economic objectives are better achieved by voluntary action than by coercion of law. We also believe that social tranquility and brotherhood are better achieved by tolerance, persuasion, and the power of good example than by coercion of law. We believe that those in need are better served by charity, which is the giving of one’s own money by choice, than by welfare, which is the giving of other people’s money through coercion of law.
“Its not yours to give." ~David (Davey) Crockett~
The Seven Christian Principles
1. Sanctity of Life
The human person, whose life begins at fertilization, is created in God's image. The first duty of the law is to prevent the shedding of innocent blood. Therefore, it is the duty of all civil governments to secure and to safeguard the lives of all innocent persons from fertilization to natural death.
Abortion/Infanticide: No government may legalize the taking of the unalienable right to life including the life of the pre-born. Abortion should never be declared lawful by any institution of the State of North Carolina or local government - legislative, judicial, or executive. We affirm the legal personhood of all unborn human beings without exception. As to matters of rape and incest, it is unconscionable to take the life of an innocent child for the crimes of his father. We reject legislation that allows the killing of an innocent child once some regulatory requirement is met. We also oppose the distribution and use of all abortifacients. We oppose scientific research involving human embryonic or pre-embryonic cells.
Euthanasia: The concept of euthanasia is a dangerous move towards legalized termination of the non-productive, the unwanted, and the handicapped without their consent. We oppose laws that condone or legalize euthanasia or so-called “mercy killing.”
2) Equality Under Law
We believe that all citizens of our Constitutional Republic should be equal under law regardless of their national origin, race, religion, gender, education, economic status, lifestyle, age, health, function, condition of dependency, or political opinion. Likewise, no class should be given preferential treatment regardless of the merit or popularity of its cause. To favor one class over another is not equality under law.
Rights: We believe that only individuals have rights, not the collective group. These rights are intrinsic to each individual, not granted by the state. If the state has the power to grant rights, it also has the power to deny them, and that is incompatible with personal liberty.
We believe that a just government derives its power solely from the governed; therefore, the state must never presume to do anything beyond what individual citizens also have the right to do. Otherwise, the state is a power unto itself and becomes the master instead of the servant of society.
We believe that one of the greatest threats to freedom is to allow any group, no matter its numeric superiority, to deny the rights of the minority. One of the primary functions of a just government is to protect each individual from the greed and passion of the majority.
We, therefore, oppose the UN Declaration of Human Rights that endeavors to control the individual for the greater good of the global community since it is antithetical to the U.S. Declaration of Independence that seeks to protect the natural or unalienable rights of each individual.
3) Liberty (Self-government)
Character and Moral Conduct: True liberty is the fruit of the virtuous character and moral conduct of a people and their leaders. We call on all public officials as well as our own members and candidates to demonstrate the utmost good character in both public and private life.
Civil Rights: Unalienable rights come from God. We oppose the creation of man-made "civil" rights based on group status or behavior because they invariably deny the true and unalienable rights of others.
Gun Control: The right to bear arms, as guaranteed by the Second Amendment, is inherent in the right of self-defense, defense of the family, and defense against tyranny. Existing laws placed against this fundamental right are unconstitutional and should be repealed.
Power of Juries: We call for legislation to require judges to instruct juries as to the full scope of their powers, including the power to judge the laws in question and the right to consider all evidence that they may deem pertinent in determining a proper verdict.
Privacy: We oppose any law that enables unconstitutional supervision or collection of information on private citizens by any jurisdiction of civil government. Any effort to number and monitor citizens through a national or international I.D. system violates privacy and civil liberty.
Religious Freedom: Religious Freedom and the public acknowledgement of God form the cornerstone of American liberty and the foundation of our political institutions. Separation of church and state was not the intent of the founding fathers and is a misrepresentation of their writings and teaching. National confessionalism was the intent and natural outcome of the values and principles upon which America was founded.
Religious rights and obligations must be protected, whether individually or collectively exercised. The church has both the right and the responsibility to address all issues to protect its congregants against governmental tyranny due to their religious beliefs. The church must be protected from state influence and control.
The Christian Party of North Carolina supports the immediate, complete and total repeal of all laws, rules, regulations, and Executive Orders at the federal, state and local levels that exercise control over the church except those laws necessary to protect the rights of individuals under the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights.
Furthermore, Religious Freedom does not come from government; it is bequeathed to all men by Almighty God and it is government’s duty to uphold that sacred right.
Civil duties of Americans: These rights must be secured by the commitment of the citizens to a functional, free, and open election process and enforced by a Republic form of government committed to the ‘law of the land.’ When these two protections of free men are ineffective, God-fearing men of good conscience, exercising manly firmness have the right, responsibility, and privilege to reaffirm these rights through “Civil Disobedience,.” which is the last right resource used by a free people; but, there may be times, when it is the only effective resource to secure and affirm liberty.
Liberty, right to own property, and life are inalienable rights. Inherent in these rights is the right, responsibility and duty of citizens to defend themselves and their families against tyranny in whatever form tyranny chooses to manifest itself.
The Christian Party of North Carolina supports civil disobedience as a Constitutional remedy when governments at any level use their power and resources to rob citizens of the rights of liberty given by Almighty God.
Also, inherent in the right to liberty, property, and life is the collective right of the citizens to secure, protect, and defend these individual rights. We call upon the federal, state, and local government to restore the Constitution and Bill of Rights as the law of the land. Failure to do so is nothing less than any act of tyranny and removes any legitimate claim of the government to rule a free people.
4) Property Rights
Environment: As God’s appointed steward, man has the responsibility to care for the earth and to use its resources wisely. We support scientifically valid efforts to preserve the environment, but we reject costly, unwarranted government and supra-governance regulation. We affirm the constitutional provisions that protect private property from being taken for public use or preservation without just compensation.
Land Use: We oppose federal purchases of private lands and the further designation of federal lands as wilderness, roadless areas, national monuments or any other classifications that remove lands from productive use. We call for the return of federal forestlands and range lands to the states, under whose jurisdiction they properly belong.
Property Taxes: We believe that the right of individuals to own property is God-given. Property taxes are tantamount to rental payments and thus imply state ownership of the land. We call for an end to property taxes and, in the meantime, support legislation that allows only real property owners to vote on levies and bonds that would increase local taxes.
Water Rights: Water rights are an integral part of property rights. Their use, allocation, or transfer must not be impeded without due process. Public agencies must be precluded from purchasing or otherwise collecting agricultural water-right allocations. We oppose the removal of hydroelectric dams and the metering of privately owned wells.
5) Traditional Family
Education: Almighty God has assigned to parents the authority and duty of educating children. All teaching is related to fundamental assumptions about God and man, and cannot be separated from religion. Therefore, we support the separation of school and state, "freedom of conscience in education" legislation, and the operation of home schools and private schools unencumbered by government. The federal government has no constitutional jurisdiction over the education of children. Therefore, we support the abolition of the U.S. Department of Education, and we oppose all federal intrusion in education through "Goals 2000," "School-to-Work," subsidies, programs, national teacher certification, goals, guidelines, or any other government-led means.
Marriage: We believe that marriage can only function as God intended it, being between one man and one woman, joined as husband and wife in the eyes of God and that government has no power given it by the U.S. Constitution to usurp God’s authority over Holy Matrimony being between one man and one woman, any other union contrary to God’s plan would be non-productive as a family unit and an abomination.
Health Care: Government regulated and subsidized health care is unconstitutional and threatens both the quality and availability of medical care, treatment and supplies. We support the deregulation of health care.
Parental Rights and Responsibilities: It is the God-given duty of parents to feed, educate, clothe, and discipline their children. We are opposed to governmental assumption of any of these responsibilities or infringement on the right of parents to fulfill them.
Pornography: Pornography is immoral. The purpose of the First Amendment was to allow citizens the freedom to address the policies and practices of government, not to aid in the degradation of American culture. Therefore, we support laws making it a criminal offense to distribute or display pornography.
6) Limited Government
Legislative Reform: Legislative authority is properly vested in a general assembly elected by and accountable to the people. We call for the repeal of laws that delegate legislative authority to non-elected administrative agencies and commissions.
Executive Orders: Executive orders that have the effect of law violate the principle of the separation of powers. We therefore oppose the use of executive orders to make law. We call for the repeal of all executive orders affecting policy outside of the executive branch.
Judiciary: The US Constitution stipulates that the indefinite terms of federal judges are dependent upon their continued good behavior. We call on Congress to end judicial activism by enforcing the rule of good behavior (through impeachment) and by using its authority to override unconstitutional court decisions. Court decisions do not constitute law.
Money and Banking: The federal government’s departure from the constitutional principles of money and banking threaten the country’s economic stability and the survival of our republican form of government. We support a return to the monetary and banking provisions set forth in the Constitution and the abolition of the Federal Reserve System.
Privatization: We call for the state government to divest itself of all operations not authorized by the Constitution. We call for the end of “public-private partnerships” which amount to a government franchise and license to private corporations to enter public works, usually accompanied by government financing to the detriment of individual liberty.
Public Debt: We call for the prompt and systematic reduction of public debt through the elimination of unconstitutional programs and agencies
Subsidies: We oppose corporate subsidies and agricultural subsides (except to family-owned farms) as unconstitutional and counterproductive to free enterprise.
Veto Authority: We oppose the line item veto as an unconstitutional delegation of legislative power to the Governor.
Crime: A fundamental purpose of local government is protecting citizens from crime. We oppose the federalization of crime and law enforcement personnel as an unwise and unconstitutional centralization of power. We support capital and corporal punishment, restitution, and a judicial system that protects the rights of victims over the rights of criminals.
Welfare and Poverty: We are opposed to government welfare programs. We support Christian charity and family free enterprise as the best means of reducing and preventing poverty. Responsibility for the care of the truly needy rests with individuals, churches and other private organizations.
Election Reform: Control of the electoral process must be returned to local levels. We demand the reinstatement of verifiable and auditable election processes and procedures. As a minimum, elections should be audited randomly at the precinct level after the polls close.
Election of Senators: Formerly, the election of U.S. Senators by the state legislatures provided the state governments a powerful voice in federal policy and a key check on federal power. Since we believe the 17th Amendment was fraudulently enacted in 1913, we support the repeal of the 17th Amendment and a return to the original method of electing U.S. Senators.
State Sovereignty: The federal government has no authority to control state education, natural resources, transportation, private business, housing, health care, or other areas in which it is now involved. We call upon the State of North Carolina to stop accepting federal funds for projects not authorized by the U.S. Constitution.
7) American Sovereignty
Language: We believe that a single language is necessary for unity. We support legislation to establish American English as the official language of the state of North Carolina.
Immigration: In order for citizens to serve responsibly as guardians of our constitutional form of government, we call for a return to the practice of disqualifying for admission to the U.S. all persons having criminal histories, immoral lifestyles, or beliefs hostile to our form of government. We also call for an end to the bestowing of U.S. citizenship on children born to illegal aliens in this country. Furthermore we call for enforcement of immigration law and securing of our country’s borders to stop illegal immigration. We are opposed to any local, state or national laws that allow for amnesty or any citizen rights to be provided to illegal aliens.
National Defense: A primary purpose of the federal government is to provide for the defense of the states. We call for the maintenance of a strong, state-of-the-art land, sea, air and space-based defense system. We oppose the committing of U.S. forces to serve under any flag but that of the U.S.A. We oppose placing women in combat units.
State Defense: The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The Founders saw that so-called “homeland security” was the province of the states through their militias. Therefore we call for the dissolution of the federal Department of Homeland Security.
New World Order/One World Government: Nationhood is a blessing and the basic building block of a stable world order. We call upon federal legislators to
Oppose the transfer of our governing authority to international agencies, agreements, alliances, and treaty organizations as a dangerous step towards global tyranny; and
Call for an end to U.S. funding of the United Nations.
Trade and Tariffs: We support fair trade not unlimited free trade. We call upon North Carolina's federal legislators to:
Support the constitutional use of tariffs on foreign companies and products in order to fund the legitimate constitutional expenses of the federal government.
Support the elimination of ‘most-favored-nation’ trade status.
Oppose GATT, NAFTA, CAFTA, FTAA, CARIFTA, the NAU, the WTO, and all other agreements where authority over US trade, copyrights, and patent policy is transferred from Congress to any other entity.
